While you're there, visit some of the cool clips they have to offer.... 6/6/01: ~Well, you've heard all the rumors, and now it's official! Doug has been cast in the upcoming Broadway production of Jim Steinman's Dance of the Vampires, scheduled to begin previews at the Minskoff Theatre in October, with an opening night on November 21. Michael Crawford (The Phantom of the Opera) headlines the production, with Max Von Essen (Jesus Christ Superstar) as Alfred and Asa Somers (Hedwig and the Angry Inch) as Herbert. In addition to covering the roles of Alfred and Herbert, Doug gets to rock the house with a Steinman gem called "Carpe Noctem" -- or, "Seize the Night," which will be recorded on an all-star album featuring (among others) Mary J Blige, Bono, Bette Midler, and Michael Crawford. Watch for the album: it should be on the shelves by the end of the summer! OLD STUFF: 1/24/01: ~Me & Mrs. Jones runs at the Prince Music Theatre until January 27. After that, New York has been targeted, after possible limited runs in Las Vegas and Los Angeles. The cast album is set to be recorded on February 4. For more information on Me & Mrs. Jones, please visit Playbill Online. 1/7/02: January 8th begins the pre-Broadway run of a new show entitled Me and Mrs. Jones, starring Lou Rawls, Darlene Love, Orfeh, and... Doug Storm, who has a principle role with two solo songs. The production is at the Prince Music Theatre in Philadelphia, PA, and is slated to come to New York, though no dates are set yet. (Note: Alex Lacamoire, who was the musical director for Bat Boy, is the assistant musical director for Me and Mrs. Jones.) More details to follow! 12/5/01: ~Bat Boy played its final performance on Sunday night, December 2nd. Stay tuned to this section of the site for updates about Doug's future projects.... 11/7/01: ~On Thursday, November 8th, Doug starts rehearsals for a reading of the musical Starmites, in which he'll play the villain, Shak Graa. The reading, produced by songwriter Jim Steinman, will take place on Friday, November 16th at the John Houseman Theatre (450 W. 42nd St.) at 2:00 PM. For reservations, please contact Eric Krebs Theatrical Management, at 212-967-7079 (office hours Monday-Friday 10AM-6PM). ~And speaking of readings, Doug has also been cast as Tybalt in a reading of Terrence Mann's Romeo & Juliet, to be performed on Monday, November 19th, location TBA. More information coming ASAP! ATTENTION BAT FANS! If you've (a) been waiting for the perfect day to go see Bat Boy, (b) seen Bat Boy already and have been dying to see it again, or (c) just want to prove that you're really, really cool... here's your chance. Bat Boy is being filmed for the Lincoln Center Library on Thursday, November 15th, and the louder the audience is, the better! Come out and support the show. 9/27/01: ~More info on The Man Who Would Be King! It is an open event, and will be held at the Minetta Lane Theatre, between 3rd and Bleecker Streets, at 3:30 and 7:30 on Monday, October 1. Admission is free; call 212-502-3640 for reservations, or go to Musical Writers' Playground and look under Events for "Downbeat III." 9/21/01: ~Doug is going to be in a reading of a new musical version of The Man Who Would Be King -- he'll be playing Michael Caine's role, and Marc Kudisch is Sean Connery's role, with Coleen Sexton (Lucy in Jekyll & Hyde) as the female lead. ~Along with many other Broadway folk, Doug is going into the recording studio soon to record a song by Jason Howland, for the disaster relief effort. ~Doug will not be in Bat Boy when it temporarily closes this Sunday, because his doctor told him that the bones in his hand are not healed enough yet -- however, he'll be back in the show when it reopens on October 18th! 8/23/01: IMPORTANT NEWS! Due to an accident away from the theater, Doug will be out of Bat Boy until approximatly September 21st. Gavin Creel will be replacing him until then. Gavin was recently seen in ENCORE's presentation of Hair, and can be heard as Nick on the cast album for the national tour of Fame. He's slated to play a leading role in the now-postponed Thoroughly Modern Millie along with Doug's Notre Dame co-star Jessica Grové, who is currently on hiatus from understudying Eponine in Les Miz after knee surgery. Gavin's first performance as Rick/Lorraine was scheduled to be next Thursday, August 30th, but due to Doug's accident, he will most likely be on as soon as possible. Doug will be going into surgery on this Tues, Aug 28th. (The doctors wanted to wait a few days for the swelling from the trauma to go down before invading.) They will be putting pins in to hold together the 4th and 5th metacarples (the long bones in your hand that connect to your fingers) which are both shattered just below the knuckle on the left hand. Storm should regain full use of his hand, with little noticable deformity, in about 6 months -- which is good, since he's a lefty. It will take some outpatient physical therapy to get the coordination back for guitar and piano, and also to have enough grip to climb the cathedral walls again as Quasimodo in Notre Dame de Paris... which, rumor has it, is opening in Toronto next spring for a pre-Broadway run. (And hey, if that's the case, maybe a deformity would work!) And after this ordeal is over, a cast-signed-by-the-cast will be auctioned off on the website for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. 8/12/01: ~Loads of new pictures, grace à Doug... ~Media section is up, with soundclips from recordings and suchlike... ~Shows section is also up (well, half of it, anyway), with info about musicals that Doug has done... 7/21/01: ~Many more pictures added: most in the Bat Boy section, and two in Random... ~A new link... ~And if you haven't noticed the re-design, methinks you should get your eyes checked. 6/28/01: ~A new link added, for Kerry Butler's official site, and... ~Lots of new pictures added, thanks to BatGirl! So mark your calendars, start saving, etc... 3/28/01: Another review from USA Today mentions Doug: "Fine supporting performances are turned in by Doug Storm, who plays Shelley's doofus-like beau as a cross between Axl Rose and Kid Rock, and Trent Armand Kendall, who appears in a range of amusing bit parts." Read the story (from Broadway.com) here... (Of course, what they don't mention is that Deven May, who plays the title role in Bat Boy, was one of Doug's co-stars in Notre Dame de Paris!) From Notre Dame de Paris in Vegas: The Montréal Gazette had this to say about Doug's performance in Notre Dame: "While nobody can match the heart-tugging, gravely voice of Garou as the hunchbacked Quasimodo, Doug Storm takes the role to new dramatic heights, adding his own tender vocal signature. Quasimodo No 2, Douglas Crawford, is no letdown either." ...and the Las Vegas Review-Journal: "Three ballads penned by lyricist Luc Plamondon were sliced, which has done nothing to hurt the story line or dim the musical's poignant yet liberating look at how a deformed man (beautifully played and sung by a heavily made-up Doug Storm) finds love as he weathers callous treatment from commoners and a spiteful archbishop (perfectly played by Francis Ruivivar)."
