My jaw seemed to drop. "Well....um....you know....I really don't...." I mumbled, but that's about all that came out.
"Jessie, I'm sorry about earlier. I truly am, I shouldn't have gotten so mad. I've been thinking -- and I understand. You've been through tough times, well all have. It's ok...but I can make that all better. I can! You and me -- we could have a future. That future you were talking about!" Justin said.
"Justin....I'm not rewad for a boyfriend," I spoke while slowly looking away from him.
"Oh, um...ok, I see. Well, I'm gonna go to bed," he said with a sad tone in his voice.
"But, wait! Maybe....a little later. I mean, now would be too hard. I won't be here for long. I'm leaving in a couple weeks and then I'm going to college! It would be too hard. But maybe after that," I said with little hope in my voice.
"Yeah, ok, right. Well, I'm tired.I'm going to bed. Goodnight." He got up and walked to the couch and layed down.
"Goodnight," I said lightly.
1 Week Later
"I'm home!!!" a loud voice carried throughout Sarah's apartment.
"Kristi!!!" Sarah said and went to the front door and gave her a hug. "Come meet the girls!"
"Ok," she said as she walked in and saw Melanie, Tara and I.
"This is Melanie," Sarah told Kristi. "This is Tara, and this is Jessie," she said pointing to us.
"Hi!" we all said in unison.
"I've heard so much about you guys! I'm so happy you're here!" she said.
We talked for a couple hours and suddenly Kristi became part of our "group". She fit in perfectly and we felt like we'd known her forever!
Suddenly my cell phone rang. I pulled it out of my purse which was on a nearby table and put it up to my ear. "Hello?"
I heard JC's voice on the other side of the phone. "Hey Jess!"
"Hey Jace! What's up?" I asked,
"Oh nothing. Um...hold on a second, Chris wants to talk," JC said in an annoyed tone.
"HELLO JESSIE!" Chris' perky voice screamed over the phone.
"Thanks Chris. I can't hear anything now!!" I said laughing.
"We wanted to know if you guys want to go out to dinner tonight! We have some exciting news!"
"Um...hold on a sec, ok?" I covered the phone and turned taround. "Do we want to go out to dinner with the guys?
"Of course!!" Tara said.
"Ok," I said and un-covered my hand from the phone. "Sure Chris, what time?" We figured out everything and were meeting the guys at 6:30. I coudn't wait to hear what the news was about!
