Chapter Seventeen

I opened the door to the bathroom and grabbed a wad of paper towels. I then went into a stall and put the lid down to sit on it. The tears just started pouring out and I couldn't help myself. It was really hard to think that Justin would actually like me. He's just a stuck-up snob who thinks he's better than everyone who he comes across. Outside, there was a whole different story.

"How could you do that to my best friend?" Sarah proclaimed while she stood up.

"Yea, you hurt Jessie so much just a few seconds ago? Do you know what she was going to do? She was going to apologize, she really wanted to be with you. I guess you just changed her mind," Tara said looking straight at Justin.

Melanie sure thought it was her turn because she stood up and walked directly over to Justin. "You have got some nerve. You're just a jealous guy who doesn't know what he could have had." The girls looked at each other and didn't know who should go in to comfort Jessie. Tara looked up and said to the others, "I'll go." The two girls nodded and decided to sit back down as Tara walked towards the restroom.

I heard the door open and Tara's voice say, "Jessie? You're in here, I know it. Please come out."

"Why should I?" I asked.

"Jess, come on hun. We gotta talk," Tara pleaded with me. I finally stood up and opened the stall door. I immediately walked into Tara's comforting arms. "I'm so sorry girl. I don't know how he could do that. But don't worry, Sarah, Melanie and I straightened him out."

"The only guy I thought would really be 'the one' turned out to be the exact opposite. Tara, will I ever find that guy?" I asked her, not expecting to hear what she told me.

Meanwhile, outside, the other guys were confused. Justin had only told Lance what had happened with Jessie. He didn't want to tell everyone.

"Justin, have you been dating my sister?" JC asked angrily.

"Dating? No. Trying to get her to notice me? Trying to make her see I was different? Trying to make her see I could be the one to help all the bad things that have happened to her? Yes."

"Why? You've known her just as long as I've known her. No wonder she got mad, all of us would too."

Back in the bathroom, Tara was still trying to comfort me. "Ok, listen to me. You know what I think? I think that Justin has made mistakes. Everyone does. But Jessie, you've never felt this way about a guy before. You've never talked this way about a guy before. You truly thought that he'd be the one. And that's something you've never been able to have. Never been able to say. Just give it time. You never know."

"How come you always know what to say to make me feel better. Thanks girl," I said after turning and walking to the mirror. "Gosh, now all my make-up is ruined!"

"Don't worry. Let's wash your face and go sit down. I'm starving!"

After splashing some cold water on my face, I took a deep breath and opened the door. Tara followed me out and we sat down right before our food arrived. No one said anything. Just stayed quite. Luckily, our food had just arrived. We all started eating when I asked a question to break the silence.

"You guys did ask us hear for a reason, didn't you?"

"Oh yeah! Well the big news is that...drumroll please...*N SYNC is now going on their own headlining tour!" Chris spoke up and we could all hear the excitement in his voice.
