Chapter Seventeen

We couldn't believe it, we were so proud of them! "When does it start?" Melanie asked.

"In two weeks! We're going all over the country! Twenty-seven dates in twenty cities!" Joey answered.

"You guys, that is so wonderful, we're so proud of you!" Tara said to them and then leaned in towards Joey and gave him a kiss.

"Yeah, congratulations. You deserve it!" I said to them.

"Thanks a lot guys! We just can't believe it! Tomorrow, Johnny has lined up about 8 opening acts for us to choose from. And we'd really like your help, you know, so we can see what act will be good for most of the people in the audience, the girls."

"Well, let us check our schedule," Sarah said to the guys while thinking for a second, "Nope, we've got nothing to do! We're there!"

"Great!" the guys all agreed.

We finished eating our meal and didn't know what we should do. We weren't tired enough to go home and I could really tell that Sarah, Mel, and Tara wanted to stay with the guys. I, on the other hand, wouldn't mind going back to Sarah's and crying my eyes out...but I decided I'd stay.

"Let's go see a movie," I suggested. At least then I wouldn't have to face Justin, since we'd be in complete darkness. We all agreed that would be best and, after we paid our bill, walked into the parking lot.

"Um...could I possibly...you know, just, like, go with Kristi?" JC asked. We all looked at him, not thinking that JC would want to ride in a car with someone he had met just a few hours ago, but we all agreed that would be fine.

Lance had also brought a car and decided to bring Melanie and Joey, who had the third car, took Tara.

Sarah told everyone, "Chris can come with me along with Jessie and Justin." Everyone got into their cars and started the 15-minute drive to the theaters. As we were walking towards Sarah's car, though, I stopped.

"Thanks, thanks a lot. Now I have to be in a car with Justin and I really don't want to and he's driving me crazy and I can't handle it and..." I kept going on and on.

"Jess, calm down. It's OK. You're babbling, which means your nervous. You always talk to much when you're nervous so stop, you and Justin need to talk, and this is the perfect opportunity. Stop whining and complaining because I've made up my mind. You and Justin, in the back, pronto," Sarah said, and as usual, was taking control of everything.

I shot Sarah a dirty look and climbed into the back seat of her Explorer, and, sitting next to me was Justin.

"Hello Jessie," Justin said to me, trying not to make eye contact.

"Hello," I replied not looking at him and instead, looking at the back of Chris' brown hair. It was after about 5 minutes, when Sarah and Chris were in deep conversation, that Justin said something. It wasn't like I really wanted to talk to him, but I had to say something.

"I'm sorry," Justin spoke when, at the same time, I said the same thing.

"You're sorry?" Justin asked after a moment of silence.

"Yeah."

"Well..wh," Justin started but was cut off by Chris' voice.

"Listen to the radio Justin. Do you know who that is?? That's us, we're on the radio!!!" Chris was very enthusiastic but then again, who wouldn't be? We all sat in shock for a couple seconds but then started screaming.

"Call Kristi and Lance and Joey!! Now!" Justin spoke. Right as he said that, Justin's cell phone rang. Even from the front of the car and next to him we could hear JC's excitement.

We called Kristi and Lance and everyone was as equally as exhilarated and the smile on Justin's face totally erased all my mad thoughts, only for a minute, though. He was so passionate about his music, and I love that twinkle in his eyes as he hears his smooth voice coming over the radio, along with 4 other equally harmonic voices.
