Chapter Forty

"Jill, please pick up the phone, I know you're there," JC said into the phone. "Please baby, please give me a chance to explain."

"Hey JC," Alli said picking up the phone.

"Alli, is Jill there? Can I please talk to her?" JC pleaded.

"I don't think she wants to talk right now," Alli told him.

"Alli, we're leaving tomorrow for three weeks. I need a chance to explain. Can you please talk to her?"

"I'll try. Wait a minute. You are leaving tomorrow or you're all leaving tomorrow?" Alli asked.

"We are all leaving on a three week pre-tour," he informed her.

"Oh," Alli said, her voice dropping down to almost a whisper.

"Don't worry, Joey's on his way over there to talk to you."

"Okay, I'll talk to Jill for you," Alli said.

"Thank you," JC said before hanging up the phone.

"It was the strangest thing," Andie was saying to Jenn.

"Tell me what happened," Jenn said.

"Well, I went into Jaime's room this morning and I talked to her. At least I thought it was her, and then I left."

"Okay, sounds normal so far," Jenn said.

"Then I get downstairs and see Justin's car in the lot and Jaime's was gone. I go back upstairs and Jaime's room is empty except for this note," Andie said, handing Jenn the piece of paper.

Jenn read the note Justin had left Jaime', "I don't know what to tell you about this but I think you should talk to Justin. Especially after he caught you and Bryan last night," Jenn advised.

"I am, believe me," Andie assured her.

Jenn and Andie got to the parking lot.

"Do you need a ride?" Andie asked Jenn.

"No, Lance will be here in a sec," she told her.

"Okay, I guess I'll see you at home later," Andie said getting into her car.

"Come in. Let's go to my room," Alli said to Joey.

"What's going on?" Joey questioned.

"How was JC acting today when you saw him?"

"He was a wreck. He hardly said a word and when he did speak, he snapped at me."

"He didn't tell you what happened this morning?"

"No. What do you know?" Joey asked.

"All I know is that some blond chick showed up at his door today with a suitcase."

"What? You've gotta be kidding me!"

"Some girl named Sharon. Do you know her?"

"I've heard her name before," Joey said.

Andie unlocked the front door and stepped inside. Jaime' and Justin jumped off the couch.

"Andie, you're home," Justin said smiling.

"My aren't we cozy," Andie snapped back.

"Andie, it's not what you think," Jaime' said.

"I came over so we could talk," Justin told her.

"So talk," Andie said feeling hurt and confused.

"Last night I was upset about seeing you and Bryan," Justin began. "I wanted to talk to someone and Jaime' offered to explain everything."

"Go on," Andie said.

"I had a little too much to drink and we ended up back here."

"I slept on the couch and I gave Justin my bed," Jaime' jumped in.

"Is that true?" Andie asked.

"Every word," Justin swore.

Andie softened a little, "So, it was you I was talking to this morning?"

"You're not mad at me are you?" he asked.

"No. I'm not mad. I was just confused," Andie said.

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you he was here this morning," Jaime' said.

"Can we go somewhere? I want to be alone with you," Justin asked, hopefully.

"Yeah, just let me get changed," Andie said.

"Looking for someone?" Lance asked coming up behind Jenn.

"I'm actually waiting on a sexy blond with beautiful green eyes," Jenn teased. "Have you seen anyone around here matching that description?"

"I have, but he left about 30 minutes ago," Lance said playing along.

"Oh, that's too bad," Jenn pouted.

"Yeah, I guess you're stuck with me," Lance smiled.

"I can't think of anyone else I'd rather be stuck with," Jenn said smiling.

Lance blushed, "Do you wanna go grab some dinner?"

"That would be great. I wanna stop by the apartment first though. I wanna make sure my two roommates haven't killed each other."

"Oh? What's going on?"

"I'll tell you in the car," Jenn said pulling Lance across the parking lot.

"Hey JC, I fixed dinner," Sharon said when she saw him walk in.

"Thanks, it looks great," JC said half heartedly.

"Are you okay?" she asked when she saw his face.

"I've been better," JC replied.

"Wanna talk about it?"

"I don't wanna depress you on your first night here."

"JC, I'm your friend. You're so nice to let me stay until I get a place of my own. The least I can do is help you out," Sharon told him.

"Jill's not talking to me because she thinks something is going on with the me and you," JC explained.

"Well, have you been totally honest with her about our relationship?" Sharon asked.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, did you tell her we used to see each other?" Sharon asked.

"Not exactly," JC confessed.

"Don't you think you should start there?" Sharon questioned.
