Chapter Forty Two

Jenn and Jaime' sat on a bench at Epcot. They were on their first break for the day.

"So, the guys' plane should be taking off any moment now," Jaime' said.

"Yeah," Jenn replied sadly.

"You and Lance doing okay?"

"Better than okay. I just hope this separation doesn't hurt that," Jenn told her.

"I don't think you have anything to worry about. I saw the way he was following you around last night. He looked like a little puppy dog," Jaime' laughed.

Jenn laughed at that, "He is adorable, isn't he?"

"Yes, and he's totally into you," Jaime' replied with a twinge of jealousy.

They both looked up to see an airplane fly over head.

Jenn blew a kiss at it, "Goodbye Lance!" she shouted.

"You're hopeless, you know," Jaime' said.

"I know, but it's fun," Jenn said laughing.

Jaime's pager started to vibrate. She looked down to see Bryan's number.

"What the hell is he paging me for?" she asked aloud.

"Who?" Jenn asked.

"Bryan just paged me," she informed her.

"Oh God," Jenn said laughing.

Alli's phone rang.

"I have a delivery for you Miss Parker," the receptionist said.

"Okay, Tracey, I'll be right there."

Alli took off her glasses and rubbed her eyes. She had plunged herself into work to keep her mind off of Joey leaving. She headed down the hallway to thefront desk.

"What is it, Tracey?"

"This envelope is for you," she replied.

Alli took the package and made her way back to her office. She closed the door and opened the package. Inside was a note and a video tape. The note read: I hope you like this....JOEY

She walked down the hallway to the audio-visual room and popped the tape in. The picture popped up on the screen. It was Joey's living room.

"Is this thing on?" Joey asked, tapping on the recorder.

When Joey appeared on the screen, Alli could tell the tape had not been made recently. He looked about 15 in the video.

"This is a dedication to my special girl. You inspire me," he said.

The music began playing and Joey picked up a microphone. He started to sing, "I'll Be Loving You Forever" by New Kids on the Block.

"Oh my God!" Alli exclaimed, laughing.

"I'll be loving, loving YOU!" he finished the song. Joey walked up closer to the camera, "PS, this is for you Allison Parker," he said.

The screen went blank and suddenly came back to the same setting. Joey was sitting on the couch and was much older looking.

"Alli, I made that video when I was 16. I didn't have the nerve to show it to you until I felt the time was right. I love you," he said.

The screen went blank and Alli sat in shock. Her eyes started to tear up as she rewound the tape to watch again.

"I love you too," she whispered.

"Jill, it's for you!" Alli called out.

Jill picked up the phone. She was half-hoping it was JC and half-hoping it wasn't. It had been almost a week and she was starting to break down.

"Jill, it's Jeff," she heard him say.

"Hi Jeff. What's going on?"

"Actually, I have an extra ticket to the Magic game tonight and I was wondering if you'd like to go," he told her.

"Um, okay," Jill replied.

"You don't have to go if you don't want to," Jeff told her.

"No, it sounds great," Jill assured him.

"Okay, I'll be there in an hour," Jeff said excitedly.

Jill hung up the phone. She felt guilty for agreeing to go out with Jeff.

"Stop feeling guilty," she told herself. "There's no crime in a friendly date with a nice guy."

"What did Jeff want?" Alli asked when she saw Jillcome in the kitchen.

Alli had tried pressing her ear to Jill's door, but hadn't been able to hear anything.

"Nothing," Jill teased.

"Nothing? It obviously wasn't about work or else he would have talked to me. Spill it!" Alli demanded.

"I think he asked me out," Jill replied.

"You think he asked you out?" Alli asked.

"What are you, a parrot? You're repeating everything I say," Jill laughed.

It was actually the first time she laughed all week.

"I just can't believe what I'm hearing," Alli said amazed.

"What? Jeff's just a friend. And my social calendar doesn't seem to be filling up these days."

"I know, but JC," Alli's voice trailed off.

Jill tossed her a look, "What about him?"

"Never mind. Forget I said anything. Have fun tonight. I'm just gonna hang out here and watch "Friends"," Alli said walking into the living room.

"You're not mad at me are you?" Jill asked, following her into the living room.

"No, I just hope you and JC patch things up soon."

"Me too," Jill admitted.
