Chapter Forty Eight

Joey and JC were the first to get off the plane, followed closely by two large bodyguards. Lance, Justin and Chris followed close to the bodyguards. The guys signed a few autographs and finally made their way to the girls. Hugs and kisses were exchanged by everyone in the group. There was a noticeable tension between Jill and JC.

"I'm starving!" Joey announced.

"Me too, there was no way I was gonna eat that airplane food," Chris agreed.

"Why don't we all go get something to eat?" Candice suggested.

"Yeah, let's go to the Ale House," Justin said.

They piled into Jill and Ty's cars and headed to the restaurant.

"So, how's the show going?" Lance asked.

"Pretty good. Jill's gonna be on it tomorrow," Alli told them as Jill kicked her leg under the table.

"I'm gonna have to watch that. It should be hilarious," Joey said laughing.

"What's so funny about me being on the show?" Jill asked Joey.

"Nothing. I just know how picky you are about the guys you go out with."

"Whatever, Joey. Can we talk about something else now?" Jill asked.

She could tell JC was a little uneasy with the conversation and actually she was too. As they ate there was a constant interruption of girls giggling and asking for autographs and pictures.

"That was a great lunch and the company was wonderful, but I really would like to go to my house and relax," Joey said.

"How about I bring you and Alli to our apartment and she can bring you and JC home?" Jill said to Joey.

"Sounds good to me," Joey told her.

They piled into the cars one more time and all went back to the girls' apartment. Justin and Andie took off for Justin's house and Lance and Jenn were going to Lance's house after they dropped off Candice and Chris. Jill, JC, Alli, Joey and Tyler went up to Alli and Jill's apartment.

"Alli, I'll take JC home so you and Joey can spend some time together," Tyler told her.

"Thanks Ty," she told him.

Jill went into her bedroom and left the four of them standing in the living room.

"You ready, JC?" Tyler asked him.

"If it's okay with Alli I'm just gonna stay here and wait for Jill to talk to me," JC told him.

"It's fine with me," Alli told him, leading Joey to her bedroom.

"Come in," Jill called out through her bedroom door.

Jill, it's me, Tyler. I just wanted to say goodbye," he told her as he opened the door.

"Bye, talk to you later. Did Alli take JC and Joey home?"

"JC decided to stay," he told her.

"Alright, goodbye," she said as he shut the door.

Jill sat on her bed, trying to decide what to do. She walked out of her bedroom to find JC sitting on the couch watching tv.

"Can we talk?" Jill asked.

"Of course," he replied as he turned off the tv.

"I'm not sure where to start," she said, sitting down next to him.

"Most people start at the beginning," he said, taking her hands in his.

"Okay, here goes. The day that Sharon showed up at your house and you acted like I wasn't even there, I got pissed."

"Baby, I'm sorry. I realize I acted like an asshole. But she caught me off guard. I didn't think she would seriously come to my house. But like I explained the other night, she is just a friend."

"I realize that, but it still hurt. And, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, anything."

"Why is she still at your house?"

"She's not. She moved into her apartment Friday. Hold on, how did you know she was still at my house?" he asked.

Jill got up and went into the kitchen, trying to avoid the question.

"How did you know she was still at my house?" he asked again.

"Alright, I'll tell you. I drove by there a couple of times," she said, feeling embarrassed.

"And why did you do that?" he asked.

"Because," her voice trailed off.

"Because why?"

"I don't know, I just did. Do I really need a reason to drive by my best friend's house?"

"Joey, get away from the door!"

"I can't help it. They are so sweet!" Joey told Alli as he pretended to wipe tears from his eyes.

"Okay, you've got me curious," Alli said walking over to the door, "What are they saying? I can't hear anything," she asked, trying to listen through her bedroom door.

"I don't think they're talking anymore," Joey said with a devious grin.

"Well, what are they doing then?" Alli asked.

"I'll give you a little hint," Joey said grabbing Alli and kissing her neck.

"Kissy, kissy, kissy!" Joey taunted, obviously loud enough to be heard through the door.

"Joey, grow up!" Jill said from the living room, as she and JC broke into laughter.
