We went up to the MTV studios. My brother thought it was really cool that he got to meet all these famous people, and lucky for him, Blink 182 was also there that day. He was ecstatic.
We did our sound check and everything was perfect. Then we got dressed. By the time we were done with our clothes, it was 2:30. We did another sound check in our outfits, and then went back stage to get our hair and makeup done. 3:00. Then we had to get accessorized. 3:15. My brother had been taken out to the set. Justin went into the bathroom, and when he came out he looked pleased.
"Refreshing?" I asked.
"Ha-ha. Very funny," he joked hugging me. "Jess, we go on in 15 minutes. Aren't you nervous?" Justin asked.
"Actually, yeah I am," I said as I watched the monitor. Then, we heard Carson Daly say something. We looked up.
"Jessica Marintino and Justin Timberlake are here to do their duet 'Everything I Do.' We'll hear from them after the break. Stay tuned," Carson said.
When I heard "CUT!" Justin and I were shooed into the photo booth. It was pretty fun, actually. We took pictures of us kissing, and making stupid faces. When we were done, we were ushered to the set. fans screamed as they saw us walk on with Lonnie. Lonnie sat down near my brother. Justin and I signed some autographs, and then we had to sit down near Carson.
"On in 5…4…3…2…" And I saw the signal guy point 1.
"Ok, we're back, and now we're here with Jessica Marintino and Justin Timberlake," Carson said when the camera started rolling.
He asked us a few questions, and then we had to get to the number 3 video. When the video started playing, I took my place on the stage. Justin walked on right before he started singing. After the video, Carson announced that we were ready to sing. The song went great!! I was so happy.
When we got back, Carson asked a rather unusual question. "So, Justin…has doing this duet done anything to your relationship? Made it stronger?"
"Of course it has," Justin replied kissing me. "It's strong enough for me to do this, too."
With that, he reached into his pocket and got down on one knee. He pulled out the ring. Then he recited almost the same thing that he said to me the other day.
So that's why he didn't want me wearing it…he wanted to propose to me on national television! Then the thought hit me. LIVE NATIONAL TELEVISION!
I heard "Will you do me the honors of becoming my wife Jessica?" I felt tears running down my cheeks.
"Of course I will Justin!" I cried throwing my arms around him, and kissing him.
The cheers of the fans were deafening. I looked outside and saw us on the Jumbo-tron, with the past scene replaying. I also saw the inlet of the Jumbo-tron being the screen in Times Square replaying the same thing, only with our words scrolling across the bottom!! I was so happy.
We decided to drive Brian up to my [old] house and while I was there, I was going to stop and visit some friends that were still living there.
