Justin ran his fingers through his hair and put his hat back on. He had just finished basketball practice, and was now laying in his dorm room relaxing. He looked over at Lance who had a deep expression on his face.
"Yo Lance wassup?" Justin smiled.
Lance looked at him blankly after several seconds, "Huh?"
Justin nodded knowingly, "What's up? You look deep in thought!"
Lance studied his friend, "Do you ever think about Rachel?"
Justin frowned, "Everyday."
"Do you miss her?" Immeadiatly followed.
Justin looked at Lance, "Yeah," He let out a sigh, "I miss her, but I'm getting used to it. I mean it was only so long it could last."
"I wonder where she is right now," Lance said softly.
Justin agreed, "Yeah. I can't believe she just walked out like that. I wonder why."
"Nikki has talked to her mom several times. She keeps pushing Lea for answers, but she won't give them!"
Justin rubbed his temples, "I don't wanna talk about her anymore, I don't wanna think about her!" The truth is I still love her and thinking about her only makes it worse.
Lance nodded, "Okay."
Rachel watched her mom hold her son.
"Rachel," Her mother started.
"Yes?" Rachel asked.
"Why did you leave Nikki? That wasn't fair to her," her mother scolded.
"I know," Rachel sighed, "I miss her."
"Then tell her where you are. Let her visit. That wouldn't be so bad, now would it?" Her mother tried to reason.
"I know. Maybe you're right," Rachel thought. It would be nice to have my best friend back.
Rachel nervously picked up her phone. She dialed the number of her old dorm room that was still fresh in her memory.
"Hello?" Nikki answered on the third ring.
"Nikki?" Rachel said softly.
"Rach?" Nikki asked staring at the phone.
"Yeah," Rachel smiled, "It's me."
"Omg girl! How have you been? Where have you been??" Nikki said too many questions forming in her head.
"Don't you have a break coming up?" Rachel wondered.
"Yeah," Nikki said seeing a plan form, "Spring break for three weeks just next week! I'm heading back to Orlando. Where are you?"
Rachel didn't want to explain everything over the phone, "Nikki, a lot has happened. But I want to tell you in person. I moved to Orlando. I have my own appartment. And I have finished all the credits I want at University of Miami. It's been tough. There's some more I want to explain. But you have to be here for me to do it. So come down for three weeks and stay with me!" Rachel wasn't sure how Nikki would take jumping back into their friendship.
"Can I bring Lance?" Nikki's only response was.
"Yes!" Rachel laughed.
"Okay, look I gotta go. I'll get a number from your mom!" Nikki chirped.
"Bye, I missed ya!" Rachel said.
"Missed ya too bye!" Nikki said and hung up.
Rachel looked down at her outfit. She was wearing a khaki cargo skirt and a red sleeveless tank that scooped. She had her hair down. She thought she looked "presentable". She bit her mocha lips nervously. She hadn't seen them in a LONG time. The baby was now 6 months old. Rachel didn't have anymore time to worry. A knock on the door shook away her thoughts.
