Chapter Twenty Three

Chris held onto Tripetta. They had come so close to losing each other. She opened her eyes and smiled.

"Hi," she whispered. Chris found her sleepy voice, irresistibly sexy.

"Hey," he said.

"What happened to Lulu?" asked Tripetta.

She remembered waking up in the car with Chris, coming home and taking a shower. But before that everything was a blur.

Chris sighed. "I'm not sure." His lips nuzzled where her neck met her shoulder. "What do you say we forget about it?"

"Mmmmm. You must have read my mind," Tripetta said. She pressed her body closer to his and he entered her in one smooth thrust.

Tripetta moaned and wrapped her body around his as tightly as she could. She always loved making love with Chris but this was beautifully breathtaking.

Their bodies moved together, as one, until they were both sated.

Entwined in each other's arms, they quickly fell asleep.

Mariette was glad to have JC home. She snuggled closer to him, resting her head on his chest and breathing in his strong masculine aroma.

"Josh?" she whispered. Usually they both fell asleep immediately after making love but something was on her mind.

"Hmmm?" he mumbled, pulling her closer to her body.

Mariette placed a soft kiss in the center of his chest. "Remember how we talked about having a baby? And how I wanted to have a part of you to keep?"

"Mmmmhhhmmmm," JC murmured. "That's good," JC said sleepily. "I'm not ready to be a daddy. A husband maybe but not a father."

Mariette held her breath. Marriage? She wasn't quite sure that she had heard him correctly. They had talked about it but. . .

"Josh?"

"Mmmm?"

"Was that a proposal?" she asked. JC opened his eyes and looked down at her.

"Yeah. I guess it was."

"Oh."

"Well. . .?" he persisted. Now that the subject had been brought up, he wasn't going to drop it.

"Well what?" asked Mariette innocently.

"Will you. . .marry me?" he asked hesitantly.

Mariette sighed. "You know I will."

JC sighed in contentment and kissed her. "I love you," he whispered.

"We love you too," she replied.

"We?"

"About that whole daddy thing. . .you might wanna reconsider."

"What?"

"In eight months we're going to be parents, Josh." Mariette closed her eyes and waited for his reaction.

When there was no answer, her eyes filled with tears. She could feel wetness on her face but it took her a moment to realize that it wasn't her tears.

Mariette looked up and saw tears slowly and silently slipping out of JC's eyes. They ran down his face, yet he still managed a tremulous smile. "I'm going to be a daddy?"

Mariette nodded. JC squeezed her until she squealed. "I love you," he whispered, , smothering her face with kisses.

"I love you too," she murmured against his lips, her hands trailing down his chest and stomach. JC's hands gripped her wrists and she looked up. He had a worried expression on his face.

"Maybe we shouldn't do this. . .what if I hit something and the baby gets brain damaged or what if I poke an eye out or something?" he asked nervously.

Mariette laughed and kissed him. "Don't worry, it's perfectly safe." She slid her tongue into his mouth and JC pulled her closer to her body.

Lance kissed his way down September's throat.

"I missed you so much," he murmured huskily.

September moaned. "I missed you too."

His lips continued their exquisite torture on her body. "I got you something."

September opened her eyes and looked at him the way a child looks at a candy bar. "What?" she asked, climbing into his lap.

He wrapped his arms around her and nuzzled the sensitive spot above her collarbone. "Nu-uh," he laughed. "You have to beg." Devilish amusement sparkled in his eyes.

"Please?" September pouted. She straddled his lap and could feel his arousal through his boxers. "You want me to beg?" she asked, kissing him softly. He nodded, closing his eyes.

September's lips moved down his throat, stopping to suck gently on his Adam's Apple. Lance groaned and it vibrated against her lips. September licked a line down his chest.

"More?" she asked.

Lance nodded. September turned so that she faced away from him. She began undulating her body, pressing herself closer, then moving away, while shimmying up and down. By the time she was done with her lap dance, Lance was putty in her hands.

"Now," she whispered against his lips. "What were you saying about a present?" Lance pulled her closer and slipped his tongue inside her mouth.

September got up and made herself comfortable on the bed. Lance swallowed hard and his Adam's Apple bobbed. He got up and went to the dresser. He took out a small box and handed it to her.

September opened it and saw the most beautiful diamond solitaire necklace.

"Lance. . .I. . .I don't know what to say. This is priceless."

September held back her tears and focused on how the diamond sparkled in the dim light.

"Let me put it on you," Lance whispered.

He took the necklace and sat behind her. He lifted her hair and closed the clasp of the necklace. He kissed the nape of her neck lightly before letting her hair fall back into place. "Perfect."

"Lance I. . .it's so. . .I love you," she whispered, kissing him.

"I love you too," he whispered back. He pressed her back against the bed. "I want you to wear it," he told her, brushing his fingers over the cool diamond and the hot skin of her neck.

"I am wearing it."

"I want you to wear it," Lance repeated before smiling. "Only that."

September smiled back and pulled her camisole and panties off.

"Beautiful," Lance whispered as he drew her into his arms, and covered her mouth with his.

Justin held Jamie's hand as the doctor bandaged her arm.

Looked like she was going to be able to attend her graduation alive after all.

She would have to fix up the house as soon as she got home. Justin had agreed to help. Her parent would be getting back later that afternoon.

They had had a hard time explaining to the ER doctors what had happened. Jamie had shrugged and said that she had an accident while trying to open a window.

Justin held Jamie's hand on the drive home. She would have to wear long shirts for awhile, until the bandages came off and the scars faded. That would take time. But now Jamie had it. She had the rest of her life.

She noticed Justin staring at her and she smiled.

"What?" she asked.

"Do you wanna come over to my place?"

"I want to but I have to fix up the house! I have no idea how to get blood stains out of a carpet!"

Justin laughed. Now that the whole ordeal was behind them he could really laugh. He could enjoy life.

He planned on making a weekend date with Jamie. Her graduation was the next day. The following weekend he'd take her someplace secluded, lock themselves in, and. . .

"Justin? Earth to Justin?" Jamie's voice interrupted his erotic thoughts.

He looked at her and smiled. Jamie melted when he smiled at her.

"Yes?" he asked.

"Have you heard from Joey?" she asked. Until she was absolutely certain that the ordeal was over she couldn't completely relax.

Justin sighed. He didn't want to tell her the truth but he couldn't lie to her. "No but I'm sure everything is fine!" he blurted in a rush.

Jamie nodded her head.

The rising sun sparkled on the dew dampened grass, creating rainbows everywhere she looked.

Now that the storm had passed, she could see the world through new eyes. Metaphorically and hypothetically. All obstacles that had been in her way and obscured her dreams, were gone.

It was a beautiful day.

I can see clearly now

The rain has gone,

I can see all obstacles in my way,

Here is that rainbow

I've been praying for

It's gonna be a bright,

Bright, bright

Bright and sunshiny day
