Curtis is the third child in a family of four,
born to the late Mr. John William Lacy Mouning and Mrs. Naomia Carr
Mouning. Curtis has an adopted son,
Timmy Holman, and many spiritual grandchildren. He has two brothers, both of which are ministers and one sister,
Sarah Gibbs, who serves as secretary in the church and holds several other
positions. History records his birth -
March 31st.
He attended the A&T
University in Greensboro, NC. for three years.
Being raised in a spiritual and God-fearing home, he was saved and
filled with the Holy Ghost while attending college. He joined the Mt. Zion United Church of God under the leadership
of the late Bishop Led-Better. He also
served in the same church under the late Bishop Rice.
In the summer of 1959, Curtis moved to New
Haven, CT and joined Trinity Temple Church of God in Christ, under the
leadership of the late Bishop Brewer, Sr. He was very active in the church and
was appointed head of the secretarial staff, served as a deacon, choir member,
usher, bible band member, Sunday School Secretary and many other jobs his hands
found to do. While working in Trinity
Temple, God called him to the ministry and was ordained by Bishop J. Anderson and the late Bishop Wilkens.
Bishop Mouning is the founder of Gospel Temple
Community Holiness Church, Inc. of Bridgeport, CT. Former Pastor of Manning Temple Church of Love in Dorchester,
Massachusetts. He is the current
President of the First Sunday Fellowship, former President of the Prayer Band Fellowship
Union of Connecticut, Senior Bishop of the Community Holiness Church of
Connecticut and New York, and founder of the Gospel Temple Little School.
Above all, he is a gospel preacher, singer and
has many other talents that God has given him.
He has sung and preached all along the eastern coast and California.
