Since 1975, I have composed over 100 compositions for a variety of ensembles including: 24 Two-Part Inventions (1977); 3 String Quartets (1979, 1993 & 2007); 2 Piano Sonatas (1981 & 2004/5); Image and Process (1982) for chamber orchestra; Adjacent Lines and Equal Parts (1985) for piano solo; In Space and Time (1984-7) for 27 players; and Astralis (1995) for guitar and orchestra. I also have a total of five operas to my name, all in different versions highly susceptible to further tinkering.

I hold degrees in music composition from the University of Southern California (BM, 1980)--where I studied with Morten Lauridsen, James Hopkins, Robert Linn and Robert Moore--and the California Institute of the Arts (MFA, 1982)--where I studied with Mel Powell and Morton Subotnick. I also have a PhD (1996) in musicology from the Free University Berlin, mentored by Prof. Dr. Albrecht Riethmüller.

I have given individual instruction and seminars in composition and analysis at the Korean National University of Arts in Seoul, South Korea, and the State University of New York, Purchase.
