5th April 2002:
Fans of folksy songstress Jewel trooped to the Singapore International Exhibition and Convention Centre (Suntec City) for 90 minutes of poetic yodelling. Performing crowd-pleasers like 'You Were Meant For Me' (acoustic) and 'Foolish Games', the angel-voiced Alaskan also impressed well-heeled punters (mostly yuppies and expats) with newer compositions like 'Do You Want To Play' and 'Standing Still' from current album, This Way. Sadly for style-philes, Jewel dispensed with the outfit changes, obviously comfortable with her all-black tank-top, mini-skirt and leather boots. "It was a great show," affirms a fan, Richard, a twentysomething executive. "She combined coffee-shop intimacy with a girl-powered rock-out performance."
