Chapter One

(Mandy's point of view)

“Waitress! Can I get some service over here? I want my food!” A very angry customer yelled. I trudged over to the rude man and brought him his food. I was stuck in this dead end job because I have nothing better. My parents died when I was seventeen. I’m nineteen now and I live in a small apartment in Orlando, Florida.

“Mandy, you get to wait on a VIP table, the group N SYNC, They came here because it’s small and they won’t be noticed.” My boss Sasha told me, pointing to a table in the back. I sauntered over to where N SYNC was eating their appetizers. Upon seeing me, the curly haired one choked on his french fry.

“Stacey?” he asked, tears filling his eyes.

“Um, no. My name is Mandy and I’ll be your waitress tonight. What can I get you?” I asked, giving the curly haired one a sympathetic look. After taking their order, I went behind the counter and was talking to Sasha.

“The curly haired one called me Stacey. Do you know who this Stacey girl is?”

“Ah, Stacey. You do look like her.” Sasha said, sadly. Who was this girl and why did people think that i look so much like her? I carried N SYNC’s food to their table.

“Will that be all guys?” I asked. The spiky blonde stood up and pulled me aside.

“Can I talk to you after your shift?” he asked me. Why would he want to see me after my shift?

“OK, I’ll meet you outside at nine. I’ll see you then.” I said, taking their bill and pocketing the tip. At nine o’clock, I locked up and went outside. The blonde was sitting there, casually sipping a soda.

“Hey,” I said, sitting down. “What did you want?”

“I thought I’d explain to you why Justin called you Stacey.” Lance said, sipping his soda.

“I was wondering why. So?” I said, getting impatient.

“There was this orphan named Stacey Korman and she desperately wanted to be an actress. Her agent, Judy, was also our agent and she got Justin and Stacey parts together in a movie and Justin and Stacey fell in love. One day they had a fight and they stopped talking to each other. Britney Spear lied to Ryan Phillippe and said that Justin hit Stacey and a fight erupted on the street.” Lance said, trailing off.

“Before I tell you more, I did some research.”

“And-?”

“Your parents were living under a false last name so nobody would know that they abandoned their daughter.”

“What? You can’t mean-” I asked, incredulous.

“You are Stacey Korman’s twin sister. Your parents thought that they couldn’t raise twins so they abandoned one-Stacey. They kept you.”

“You have got to be kidding me! When can I met her?” I asked, excitedly.

“Let me finish the story. In the midst of fighting, Ryan pushed Justin out into the street in front of an oncoming car. Stacey knew that Justin was going to get hit so she threw herself in front of the car.”

“She’s ok right?” He bit his lip. “Right?”

“She died in Justin’s arms. Her last words were ‘I love you Justin’ They made up only to have her die. The day their fight began he was going to propose. But he never got the chance.” Lance shook his head sadly. I had a twin whom I was never going to meet.

“I’m sorry you didn’t know sooner.”

“She was an actress. What movies can I see her in?” I asked tears trickling down my cheeks.

“She was only in two movies. She was just starting out. 10 Thing I Hate About You and Romeo and Juliet.” My first thought was Sasha. Sasha probably knew my sister.

“Thanks Lance.” I said, giving him a quick kiss on the cheek. “I’m glad I know.”

“You’re welcome Mandy.” he said softly. I barely heard him. I had a date with a couple of movies.
