So how long has Blanket Search been together?
MIKE:about 2 years
how would you describe Blanket search's sound?
MIKE: good god....where do i begin? I guess it's a mix of every music we've ever heard. I really can't label it to one specific sound.
tell me about your influences
MIKE: me personally, I grew up on heavy shit like pantera, metallica, morbid angel, you know , the brutal shit. Recently I've been getting into more melodic shit like Tool, deftones, radiohead, shit like that. Bone's a big Slipknot fan, but he listens to everything. Neil and Chris, I don't know, but they also listen toa wide variety of music. it's kinda limiting to confine yourself to one specific genre of music.
so whats new with B.S.?
MIKE: we just finished all the liner notes for the CD. we've been writin a buch of new songs. anticipating the PBA fest.
Tell me about Porn God, people seem to really like that song.
MIKE: that's the 1st and least in-depth or complicated song we wrote. It's a fun, heavy/funk song. You can't deny the universal appeal of porno.
could tell me about the cd you recently recorded?
MIKE: we did it at Mud Hut w/Bill Dodd. he's the fuckin man, hands down. You can't beat the quality you get for the price you pay. Wouldn't go anywhere else.
ive heard good things about mud hut, how many tracks are on the cd?
MIKE: 8 including a cutup on a super mario bros song
oh yeah? tell me about the mario song.
MIKE: Bone played it constantly at practice and one day Neil and Chris jammed on it and it's just a happy, fun little song. You have to have grown up w/Nintendo to appreciate it I guess. we don't really care about people not takin us seriously about the song. There's 7 other tracks on the CD in addition to it. think of it as a planned outtake.
so whats your future goals for bs?
MIKE: Get somewhat of a local following, send CD's to record companies and hopefully make a comfortable living off of it.
cool any final words?
MIKE:Think for yourself, be your own influence and most importantly, support local music-5MikE5
