How long has Freek been around?
CHRIS: FREEK originated June of "99"
Me and Jason Merschat formed FREEK back then.
how would you describe Freek's sound?
CHRIS: FREEK' sound is very unique, very hard to describe. If I had to describe it though, I would say Old School meets Static X with a bit of Coal Chamber on the side.
Tell me about your influences
CHRIS: My personal influences would consist of Chuck S from Death, James Murphy and Randy Rhoads. There are some more, but it would probably take a while.
Cant go wrong with chuck
CHRIS: Thats right!
So whats new in the world of Freek?
CHRIS: Well... Currently we have a new CD that came out not too long ago entitled "Reality" a 4-song Ep, Also we will be going through some changes soon with FREEK that will definetly make a difference over all with our sound. Looking forward to it myself!
What is a Freek show like?
CHRIS: A FREEK show...hmmmm, that is a tough one. We have our shows that the crowd eats and breathes FREEK. Pounding each other to death in the pit. Then we have our shows where we have just have our loyal fans hanging out and having a good time. In either case, I love playing both.
Do you have a favorite Freekshow?
CHRIS:My favorite show.... Well, I would say I really don't have a favorite. I view all the shows the same, whether there are 10 or 100 people. As long as the people and us are having a good time, that is all that counts.
what are your plans and goals for Freek?
CHRIS: Plans are to continue perfoming shows, recording new material and gathering noteriety locally and nationally through both of the above mentioned. Expanding our fan base ultimately.
Sounds good, any final comments?
CHRIS: A final thought would be or wish if you may, is for all the local bands to unite and promote each other. In doing this the scene can only prosper.
Exactly, anything else?
CHRIS: Yeah, SUPPORT THE PITTSBURGH UNDERGROUND!
