So how did whoreacts come about?How did the Chello come in to effect?
Erin-Ask Rug and Clete
Rug-Whoreacts was a side band for a
while.Then it evolved into a full time band.
Clete-Rug is the only original member of the band.I joined over a
year and a half ago.Erin has been in the band over a year.And Shawn for
over 6 months.
Erin-I played a song or 2 with another band,then asked Rug about
joining the band and here I am.
How'd yins get the name WhoreActs? is there a meaning behind it?
Rug-I came up with the name at Barbeque,a friend of mine Laura,whom we
called Laurax,threw something and broke my Steeler mug.I jokingly called
her Whorax,and she said that's what I should call the side band.So I
thought about it and immediately thought that someone would take it the
wrong way,but said fuck it and now here it is.The name Whoreacts
actually means nothing at all.Plain and simple
How would you Describe the sound of WhoreActs?
Rug-A brutal,punishing,destructive wall of sound.
Clete-Controlled Chaos
Erin-There are a few love songs
Whats new in the world of WhoreActs?
Clete-Writing songs and looking for a singer.But if we don't find
one,we will stick with what we are doing now.That is having all of us
sing,Shawn can to if he likes.
How is the scene in Altoona?
Rug-The scene itself is pretty good,lots of kids come to the shows.The
problem lies with the bands,there is no respect.Everybody wants to be
better than everyone else.Not all the bands mind you,but most.
Clete-I think the scene flucuates.Me and Rug are both 30 and we have
been The scene for a long long time.We played in bands with one another
over the years.We remember when we were 16 and 17 years
old,Necracedia(who are originally from Altoona,well except Wes)was the
big punk/hardcore band,and they opened a lot of doors for people
here,since we were all friends,they moved to Pittsburgh and they passed
the torch to us.So we had bands,put on shows.It would go up and down.So
it's healthy but it could be better.Erin hates it.
Erin-It sucks,it is a big fucking fashion show.
Shawn-I hate it as well.
(Reminder:Erin and Shawn are both 18. hahaha)
Who writes the lyrics?
Rug-Me and our old singer.
What is your favorite thing about being in a band?
Rug-Meeting new people.Creating new things to be unique.playing
live.Road trips are always a good thing.
Clete-I like the whole atmosphere of being in a band.Especially if
all the people get along.We all get on with one another quite well.Me
and Rug like to harass Erin a little,she's so paranoid.It's funny,but
she can dish it out as well.
Erin-For me,it's therapy,a place to direct my malice and anger.I
also like having a chance to play my electric cello beause she did not
use to get this much attention.It was always my acoustic.
what is your favorite thing about being on the road and playing out of town shows?
Rug-Getting a good response
Erin-Meeting people who like the music and to see the different
reactions.

Hows the crowd usually react when they see the cello?
Erin-I am very grateful of the compliments that I recieve about
her.People usually just say it is different.Some people even ask if they
can play it.But I don't because I am very protective of her.
Rug-People are curious about it,but usually we don't notice
because we are setting up our gear.
Clete-It is usually the drunk people that want to play it.
I've heard that some people think WhoreActs is a sexist band, what are your thoughts on that subject?
Rug-We can understand this to an extent,we had a singer who had a big
mouth with nothing to say but idiotic comments,and he would say the
dumbest shit.And now he is no more.I would like for these people to find
anything remotely sexist in or songs or words.We have a female in the
band,a very nice one at that.We are nice guys,these people need to take
a few minutes to talk to us then maybe they will understand our views.We
strongly oppose racism,sexism,homophobia or any other discrimination of
any kind.
What other activities/hobbies do you enjoy besides music?
Rug-Watching the STILLERS and PENS,spudding on my couch,indulging
fine cannibis and drinking fine beer products.
Clete-Stillers and Pens.
Erin-My life consists of my friends,cello,working,college,music
and Woodchuck cider.
Shawn-Hanging out
Who are some of your favorite bands?
Shawn-All kinds of music,not just one band.
Erin-Tori Amos,Tool,Neurosis,NIN,Marilyn Manson(everybody else in
band looks in horror of that choice)
Rug-Neurosis,Buzzoven,Melvins,The Swans,Beethoven,Celtic
Frost,Amebix,Dead Inside,Dr. Know,Whoreacts,etc.etc.
Clete-Black Sabbath,Neurosis,Buzzoven,Catharsis,Poison
Idea,Venom,Tribes of Neurot
What are your opinions on technology and underground music? do you think it helps, or makes people lazy?
Rug-I consider techno to be underground as well and if you are into
underground then you really have to work your ass off to accomplish
anything,so I definately don't thinks it makes you lazy.
Clete-The more underground the better,keep it under wraps.Don't let
corporate America have it.Let it thrive for the ones who deserve it.It
definitly don't make you lazy,It takes a lot of work to put the music
together.
Erin-I personally am computer illiterate,but I like techno
music.Any thing musically that has a real feeling put into it and takes
talent,I can respect.
What are future plans and goals for the band?
Rug-Right now are trying to get on a gig with Neurosis,that is a big
one for us.Recording new songs within the next 6 months.Hopefully doing
a 2 week tour this summer.Playing in the Burgh.
Erin-I wanna play with Neurosis!
Clete-Playing anywhere and everywhere,getting a new recording out
ranks real high right now.Getting better musically.With a stable lineup
it is really coming together.

Rug-We would like to thank the people who come and see us.People who

Necessary,Henry in Cincy,and Shawn's parents for the bad ass practice
facility.Every soul who has helped,your not unnoticed at all.Oh yeah by

Erin-I would like to say thanks to the people who listen and
appreciate what Whoreacts does.To the people who make false accusations
about being sexist,you are the ones that are sexist for associating the
word "whore" with a female.I know some whores and their gender has
nothing to do with the title I've given them for their actions.
