Our page about the Violin.
A four-stringed instrument that is the high member of the violin family. A bow of horsehair is drawn across the strings, tuned at intervals of a fifth, to set them in vibration. Capable of great flexibility in range, tone and dynamics, it has a shallower body than the viol. Descended from the medieval fiddle and rebec, the violin developed in Italy during the 16th century until its proportions were standardized in the 17th century. Exquisitely crafted, instruments created by masters like Antonio Stradivari continue to be the most highly prized musical instruments in the world. In addition to having a rich solo repertoire, the violin is the predominant instrument of the orchestra; a symphony orchestra uses more than thirty violinists..[Italian violino, diminutive of viola, viola.]
Hi pianopals !!
If I had to choose again, I'd probably play the violin instead of the piano... no, that's not true,
I'd go for the ivories again. But still, I really like the sound of the violin and the masterpieces that are written for it. So, here it is : my page dedicated to the violin and it's players. I'm still looking for a page about Kyung Wha Chung, so if you own one, please let me know by mailing me !!
