In the midst of The Golden State lives a girl whose golden voice
and golden heart radiates the mirrored
beauty of The Central Coast in which she lives.
On March 1st 1984, in the Imperial Valley Ca., Rebekah Ariel Arnett
was born into a Christian family and was welcomed by a sister 3 years
her senior. At the young age of 3, with her antics, jovial personality,
sweet tempered spirit the blond, green eyed Rebekah entranced family
and friends who came to visit often at the Arnett home. It was at that
same age that Rebekah's singing voice emerged as she sang nightly before
bedtime to the tune of "America The Beautiful".
In spite of being homeschooled, from an early age Rebekah was
outgoing and made friends with everyone she met. Never being comfortable
with a dull moment, she always had an activity plan. She enjoyed creating
games, she made money for months by selling assorted candy out of a box to
neighborhood children, at the age of 11 she wrote and directed dramatic home
movies with her friends, delivered the local newspaper for four years and she
even staged a neighborhood "Cat Show"!
At the age of 11, Rebekah enjoyed singing and she along with her friend
Stephanie and sister Christine entered a local talent show in which she
choreographed dance moves and sang to Madonna's "Cherish". Soon after that
Rebekah sang at other talent shows and was invited to sing for
various events.
During that time Rebekah had a desire to try acting, so she traveled 120 miles
each weekend to San Diego where she attended commercial acting classes. Rebekah
completed her classes and soon after was set to do radio voice-overs and local
television commercials. She once supplied the voice of a Barney the Dinosaur
Look-a-like!
Rebekah's love for music kept growing as she grew to be a teen.
She was limited to the area in which she lived and longed to be a music star.
Many nights she would resort to her bedroom to write lyrics and sing.
She began writing songs and poems, including a song that is intended to be sung
together by Rebekah and Celine Dion that she would like to sing in the future.
In 1996 Rebekah's father had to relocate to the Central Coast of California
while the rest of the family stayed in the Valley to wait for their home to sell.
Rebekah wasn't eager to move to the new location, she had many friends and commitments,
including assisting in her church's junior Sunday School program using puppets to teach
children. She wrote scripts and used her voice skills to create voices for the
different puppets. For a period of 2 years, Rebekah was away from her father and it
would only be occasionally that she would have a chance to see him, seeing that he was
a full days drive away from her. It was only a matter of time for Rebekah and the
rest of the Arnett family to be reunited.
On July 4,1997 Rebekah had the opportunity to sing to the largest audience so far.
It was the annual "Freedom Fest" celebration. Rebekah recalls, "I remember
looking out at the audience while on the large stage watching the children
sing along with me,and realizing how I could effect people by my singing and
I liked that!" That night Rebekah had the privilege of being the last
performer on the stage. She sang two songs that night, "Because You Loved Me"
and "God Bless the U.S.A.".
The time came when Rebekah had finally moved to the Central Coast. It took some time
for her to be settled in her new place. Soon Rebekah fell into the swing of things and she became active in
the community. She took dance class, guitar class, auditioned for plays and entered talent shows where
she could showcase her powerful angelic voice. She soon became the subject of news articles and the hit
with the local children. While in Pismo Beach one summer afternoon, Rebekah met a lovely woman by
the name of Valerie Johnson. Valerie happened to be the Blues Diva of the Central Coast. Valerie
befriended Rebekah and has been an encouraging breath of fresh air for her. " I've met alot of great
people here, who have been very supportive of my ambitions", Rebekah has said. Valerie booked
Rebekah to sing on New Year's Eve in San Luis Obispo for the towns annual "First Night" celebration.
"That night was definitely the most exciting time I ever had singing.", she said. That day Rebekah was
sceduled for 2 different time slots. The audience came back early before the second performance and
hung around to watch her sing again.
Rebekah has carried her aspirations with her to the Central Coast. Because of her love for music and performing, she has recently held auditions for dancers that will accompany her on stage while she performs. Rebekah, along with her friend and co-partner Nicole Parry make all the decisions concerning the group, from venue locale to props used on stage. "I want to be successful in what I love to do and to do that, I have to work at it myself, I don't like having to rely on people too much." "I've been let down before, it's enough to make me try harder." She and her dancers known as "True Colors" perform in the Central Coast of California and Rebekah hopes that soon a huge following will pursue.
This young lady with the "Get up and go" will surely have something to accomplish in
the days and years ahead. With the talent to pursue her dream and the determination to make her dreams
become success,
people will soon come to know and love the Rebekah Arnett that has touched the life of all who know
her.
