Lynn Monk's Biog (condensed version)
I started playing drums 30 years ago and was in a mildly successful pop/rock band with record releases in 1980-81. In 1977 I formed a PA company and subsequently did concert sound engineering for the next 16 years, during which time I mixed the sound for 1000's of acts from the unknown to the World famous!During 1982 I started MIDI programming, producing backing tracks, demos and albums for a variety of bands and entertainers. I have also been a DJ; a band manager; a promoter; and a radio presenter, ran a fan club; a music trade association; and an agency; and of course, designed and installed sound & lighting for several venues.
More recently I have coordinated some major music events sponsored by the BBC for the local council; ran community music workshops; composed the music for a computer game; and qualified as an Instrumental Music Facilitator (tutor).
I currently play drums & percussion in 3 local bands, one of which I used to be musical director of. They still play the musical scores I wrote and arranged for them. I also collaborate on, and produce, various music projects for internet release and run a production company called "Wobbly Music" specialising in creating personalised songs for individuals. For the past two & a half years I have been working on a debut album for a new artist. It is now in its final stages of development. I still produce the occasional project voluntarily, but I also have various production deals to suit all budgets (yes, even a ZERO budget!).
For songwriters and performers who have limited recording experience, I can listen to your raw ideas and transform them into a fully arranged song with a good groove, catchy hooks and CD quality sound. For those with limited songwriting or perfoming experience, I can also advise on your market direction and on which of your songs would stand the greatest chance of success. All aspects of live performance can also be advised. By the way, I'll play or produce almost any kind of music.
My influences are all other musicians. To get a rough idea of the kinds of sounds I produce, you can listen to some of my demos and projects in progress at the following soundclick sites...
