SERGE MODULAR MUSIC SYSTEMS : Prototype Series
'81 (left) and Series '79 (right)
In general, I do not like music generated by digital
means. Instead, I stick to the good old analog modular synthesis' which I have practiced since 1973.
I have a 5 Voices Patchable OBERHEIM SEM-1 and two OBERHEIM Mini-Sequencers-
which are part of my main gear. I have also a rack containing a bank of 8
x/y analog joysticks and several fancy divide by n counters.
Until 2004, I had two SERGE MODULAR MUSIC SYSTEMS (see above). Alas, due to unforeseen cicumstances,
I had to sell these two systems, which I had for nearly 25 years... :-(
Lately, I have been also using SYNTHEDIT <http.//www.synthedit.com>>:
an "analog synth" emulator, which allows the end-user to build his own
analog configuration by patching modules together : the shell was developed by
Jef McClintock. Check my own
configuration.
For MIDI sequencing of my analog generated sounds, I use several DAC and
ADC interfaces : a ROLAND OP-8 (8CV/8Gates to DCB) along with a ROLAND MD-8
(DCB to MIDI) and a ROLAND MPU-101 (MIDI to 4CV/4Gates) :all interfaces are
connected to a Pentium Celeron 466Mhz. as well as an old PC Intel 486DX50.
I use an Alesis MIDIVERB
II for effects and a TASCAM PORTA 07 STUDIO to record my daily sound
maquettes.
I have also several music editing softwares...One of them, is the French
software Quartz Audiomaster
which I use as an audio editor/sequencer .
