WEIRD PATCH OF THE MONTH (September 1997)

3. Sitar, Tablas, Banya and Tampura (for Serge Systems)

O.K,This patch is not that weird, but it is very subtle and complex : my favorite patch, in fact.

You'll need a lot of equipment if you want to duplicate it, especially if you don't own a big Serge System.

There are four instruments : a lead Sitar, Tablas and Banya drums as well as a Tampura playing a background 'drone'. As all instruments can be controlled in real time, it is the ideal patch for a 'live' Indian Raga performance...

Very fancy rhythms can be achieved, thanks to one 'Dual Synchronous Up Counter' (CD4520BM) and three 'Programmable Divide-By-N 4 Bit Binary Counters' (CD4526BM).

Note: If you want further information on how to build these counters, go to 'Simple DIY Electronic Projects'.

Enjoy...
