Weird Patch Of The Month (July 1997)
1. Make A Joyful Noise
To be creative, you need sometimes to bend the rules...
The following Patch, bends the rules all the way...
Enjoy...
Explanation:
In this case, the sequencer receives an Audio clock and behaves as a "Wavetable Generator "to select the "Timbre " of the complex FM Audio signal : i.e the "Harmonics "are selected by adjusting the voltage of the potentiometers of each step, while the frequency range is affected by the number of steps in the sequence: notice that the "Timbre "is different for each VCA.
Furthermore, the VCF is not used as a filter but as a LFO : it is set to oscillate in the sub-audio domain (High resonance, Low cutoff frequency, feedback of High Pass signal into Audio input) : the two LFO sinewaves are 90° out of phase in regard to each other and are used to control the Fade-in/ Fade-out gain of the two VCA's.
