GABRIELA ANDERS
GABRIELA ANDERS
Wanting
(Warner Bros)
Gabriela's vocal approach has the sensuous, sophistication that became the hallmark of Sade. Opening with the romantic 'Fire Of Love' Gabriela lays down the atmospheric mould on Wanting. 'Fire Of Love' also features the smooth jazz horn of Rick Braun. Gabriela is a very talented pianist, (she composed most of these songs on Wanting) yet during most of the album Gabriela is content just to sing. Jobim's 'The Girl From Ipanema' is given a very personal, intimate feel. 'Wanting' is possibly the sexiest song on Wanting. 'You Know What It Is Like' is a beautiful Roberta Flack love ballad that is strongly reminiscent of 'Feel Like Making Love'. 'Seven Days' has an underlying reggae rhythm that is hypnotic. 'Just An Hour' opens with a soapy rhythm that features the legendary George Duke on keyboards. 'I'll Be Loving You' features Boney James on soprano sax that sounds like a romantic duet with Kenny G. Gabriela rounds off Wanting by delightfully vocalising through 'Brasileira'. Gabriela is from South America.
