STEVE APIRANA
No Turning Back
(Someone Up There Records)
Eric Clapton would love this...; 'That Same Old Road' is so much like 'It Hurts Me To', and this is the very message Steve would like to get across to everyone i.e. 'I'm not better than you, but I know a better way'. This is Blues-Gospel...and 'Hear Me Knocking' is pure Clapton. Dire Straits fans will love 'Postscript'. The title track is pure blues in base, whereas the lyrics are about a new trip into the Lord Jesus. 'Song For A Bride' is about choices that are hard. Ainsley Apirana sings 'I Chose To Follow' that features the beautiful flute playing of Donna Tai Rakena. 'E Te Ariki' has a little of Aoteroa's (New Zealand) local birdlife and some great music from Steve. And finally 'It's No Miracle' which features a dialogue by Steve. This is a very deep album, that is both very attractive and addictive. You make the choices.
