BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY
BIG BAD VOODOO DADDY
Big Bad Voodoo Daddy
(Interscope/Universal)
These swingin' cats are the boogie boys who rocked the movie Swingers. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy opens with the swingin' 'Boogie Bumper', that will have you hopping. 'Mr PinStripe Suit' and 'Jumpin' Jack' both echo the drumming style of the great Gene Krupa; and they are certainly inspired by 'Sing, Sing, Sing'. 'King Of Swing' sets the house alight. Cab Calloway & The Blues Brothers have made 'Minnie The Moocher' a cat-house classic, and the Daddies perform their own version of this song, that truly compliments this album. Louis Jordan would have felt right at home singing 'Go-Daddy-O'. The Latin inspired 'Please Baby' is reminiscent of Santana meets big band. Cuba rhythms drive 'Mambo Swing' that could have become a Tito Puente classic. The finale is 'So Long-Farewell-Goodbye', and this is the Daddies standard show outro. Big Bad Voodoo Daddy is swing with a zing!
