JIM BELUSHI
JIM BELUSHI
36-22-36
(House Of Blues/Universal)
Actor Jim Belushi is brother of the legendary Blues Brother Elwood Blues (the late, great John Belushi). 36-22-36 opens with the brassy 'If You Don't Leave Me Alone' featuring composer Delbert McClinton on harmonica. 'Smokin' Blues' has got that famous Texas boogie riff and features the legendary Charlie Musselwhite on harmonica. Willie Dixon's '29 Ways' is given a doo-wop feel. Buddy Guy's 'Watch Yourself' really moves along to Larry Lee Lerma's driving bass. The title track features a cookin' sax solo from Joe Sublett. 'The Chicken & The Hawk' is pure rockabilly. 'Hot Weather Blues' is pure New Orleans piano style that features John Coltrane's most famous jazz pianist McCoy Tyner. A great show standard is Willie Dixon's 'I Just Want To Make Love To You'. Some people will remember Paul Buttefield performing Nick Gravenites 'Born In Chicago'; James really kicks this one along. 'If The House Is Rockin'' is given a Big Bopper flavour and features Huey Lewis on harmonica. 36-22-36 is a great R&B album!
