TAB BENOIT
TAB BENOIT, DEBBIE DAVIES & KENNY NEAL
Homesick For The Road
(Telarc Blues)
Each of these performers are great guitarist/singers and this album sets out to give you best of what each has to offer. Together they are playing some of their favourites plus some new tunes. Tab Benoit delivers a starling performance during Screamin' Jay Hawkin's classic 'I Put A Spell On You'. Debbie sounds destincly Southern and is strongly reminscent of Texas babes Lou Ann Barton and Angela Strehli with a dash of Etta James meets Bonnie Raitt. Kenny Neal (son of Raful) hails from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. When you listen to Kenny sing you can hear swamp-boogie blues meets soul. Kenny's guitar sound can jump from a jazzy Wolfman Washington shuffle to Robert Cray soul lick. Tab blends a mixture of Cray meets Ronnie Earl. Whereas Debbie comes to the fore with her late mentor Albert Collins' sound meets Earl Hooker. Of course their influences are far and wide, whereas their magic on Homesick For The Road truly gells into one great big blues bag. They've got their mojo working!
