WILLIE BOBO
WILLIE BOBO
Talkin' Verve
(Universal/Verve)
Multi-percussionist Willie Bobo first came to the jazz world's attention when he recorded with such artists as Mary Lou Williams, Tito Puente, and Cal Tjader. He has influenced countless other great musicians. All the best tracks are included here on Talkin' Verve i.e. 'Black Coffee', 'Spanish Grease' & 'The Look Of Love'. The late 'Bill Graham' of Fillmore fame introduced Carlos Santana in 1967 to a recording of Willie Bobo's featuring Sonny Henry (Willie's guitarist). That recording was 'Evil Ways'; and this sound became the foundation for the first three Santana albums. Willie's 'Fried Neck Bones & Some Homefries' was once a Santana concert standard, and features on Santana's Live At The Fillmore 68. Willie's music says Latin and Summer.
