BROOKLYN FUNK ESSENTIALS In The Buzz Bag (Elite Imports New Zealand) Brooklyn Funk Essentials have been spreading their "streetfunkjazzdub" sounds across the globe since 1993. Their 1995 debut album for RCA, Cool, Steady and Easy was critically acclaimed as a ground-breaking recording. Their original blend of funk, jazz, soul, reggae and ska has won a following which cuts across demographic lines even as it sets a standard for acid -jazz. At the urging of legendary Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun, Brooklyn Funk Essentials travelled to Turkey for a huge concert and recorded In The Buzz Bag in collaboration with some of Turkey’s most prominent musicians. The album, which is hotly anticipated by their fans, takes their funk / groove-jazz / reggae sound one step further by adding the sinuous sounds and textures of the Middle East - a unique and funky mix.
