CAFE DEL MAR IBIZA CINCO (FIVE)
Various Artists
(Manifesto/Festival)
The introduction is by A.R.Rabman performing 'Mumbai Theme' which is a soundtrack in two movemnts. It has Afro-European influences, and is delightfully melacholy. Levitation perform their hit 'More Than Ever People', and this features the beautiful vocals of Cathy Battistessa. Jelly & Fish perform 'Appreciation' that exudes African percussive flavours. Larry Heard sings Nookie's 'Paradise', that is so soulful. Sexy & French is Ame Strong performing 'Tout Est Bleu'. She has a voice I could listen to for hours...no days, weeks! Les Negresses Vertes have always reminded me of the European version of the Pogues, and 'Face A La Mer' takes us on another romantic European journey, which is remixed by Massive Attack. The soulful Electribe 101 hit 'Talking With Myself' is included here, complete with ocean atmospherics. 'Pojo Pojo' is performed by Cyberfit, and this is what you would sound like if you sang with a springs coil in your mouth. Portishead imitators Lamb perform 'Transfatty Acid' that has been remixed by Kruder & Dorfmeister. 'Angels Landing' by Salt Tank includes Geri Blam on vocals and Paco Fernandez on guitar. Paco follows with 'Mani' and this melody oozes with sunshine. Rounding of Cafe Del Mar Ibiza Cinco is 'Close Cover', that is a beautiful piano piece performed by Wim Mertens and the London Sinforietta.
