Clark manages to please everyone by pleasing himself. It's refreshing listening to a master singer/songwriter performing his individual style, concerned only with writing and playing good songs. They may not be considered commercial enough to receive significant airplay, but undoubtedly this collection will outlast the whims and demands of the here today, gone tomorrow record industry clones.

Clark is joined here in the studio with long-time collaborators Verlon Thompson and Darrell Scott. The entire album has a laid back feeling, complimented by sparse arrangements that add to the warm uncomplicated mood. Cold Dog Soup, features guest appearances by Emmylou Harris and Shawn Camp, whose vocal harmonies blend in perfectly with this stellar trio.
