PATSY CLINE
PATSY CLINE
True Love-A Standards Collection
(MCA/Universal)
Pop stylist or Queen Of Country; Patsy Cline was both of these titles, and no matter what music she chose to sing she made them her own. Her untimely death in 1963 sadly cut short a blossoming career and created a legend. There have been a multitude of compilations by Patsy Cline and True Love-A Standards Collection gathers some of her most enduring crossover ballads.

'True Love' a classic Cole Porter song became one of Patsy's most requested performances, and was the first to feature strings thanks to her record producer Owen Bradley. Patsy's rendition of 'Love Letters In The Sand' leaves Pat Boone's sounding unfeeling. 'Have You Ever Been Lonely (Have You Ever Been Blue) is a cry in your beer ballad that appeals to both country and pop fans alike. Patsy's classic 'Bill Bailey, Won't You Please Come Home' develops from a melancholy ballad into jump-blues.

One of Patsy's most enduring hits is 'Always', and this is a rather fitting finale for what will become a timeless album.
