DEBORAH COLEMAN
Soft Place To Fall
(Blind Pig)
Not only a master of the blues/rock axe, she's also a powerful singer. Deborah opens with the strong/funky love ballad 'Look What You Do To Me'. Title track 'Soft Place To Fall' has commercial viability, 'Don't Lie To Me' has Texas rock written all over it, and it's so bloody tight! Little Johnny Taylor's 'If You Love Me Like You Say' is pure soul cookin'. Deborah's 'Another Hoping Fool' has shades of Buddy Guy. Deborah is vying for the Blues Queen crown with Bo Diddley's 'I Am Woman; watch out Koko & Etta! 'So Damn Easy' reels in a jazzy groove. As a youth Deborah was inspired firstly by The Monkees, she then took up bass guitar, at 15 she heard Jimi Hendrix and then switched to lead guitar. Blues rock groups Cream and Led Zeppelin became her main influences during this period. Twenty Nine years later she sounds like Linda Perry's (Four Non Blondes) & Buddy Guy's love child.
