Loud Guitars Big Suspicions
(Arista/BMG)
First of all let's forget age prejudice, she's only 14 and she can run circles around some of the more mature blues musicians! What does it take to experience life some critics do ask, and record executives line up to create another new Spice girl. Yet both Mozart and Stevie Wonder were child prodigies and they are now revered. Shannon was only 13 when she recorded this album and she comes from Fargo, the same place that produced fellow teen prodigy Jonny Lang.

Loud Guitars Big Suspicions is essentially The Jonny Lang Band with Shannon on lead vocals and lead guitar. Jack Holder, Bruce McCabe, Pat Hayes, Ricky Peterson are all Lang's gang. Jack Holder also features on Deborah Coleman's Soft Place To Fall. Kevin Bowe is Loud Guitars Big Suspicions producer and is also a compitent multi-instrumentalist on the album, and he also wrote 'Still Wonder' on Jonny Lang's Lie To Me album. After listening to this album a few times I came to the conclusion that Shannon has definately got what it takes. 'Few & Far Between', 'If You Change Your Mind' both share similarities in style to the early Bonnie Raitt and the rockier side of Linda Ronstadt. The Band's 'The Weight' gets a refresher, and 'Love Me Like That' features some really great country slide guitar.

There's something here for everyone that enjoys great Southern country-rock-blues.
