DAVE's TRUE STORY
DAVE'S TRUE STORY
Sex Without Bodies
(Chesky/Elite)
Sex Without Bodies exudes a jazz-cafe smooth sensuality. Dave's True Story are vocalist Kelly Flint and composer/guitarist David Cantor, with many other musicians on board. Sex Without Bodies opens with the shut up and kiss me 'Spasm'. 'Baby Talk' says let's get intimate! The title track is delightfully decadent, and void of physical contact (except maybe your own), and that maybe its attraction. 'Once Had A Woman' is blue and smoky. Kelly's phrasing teases with mock remorse during 'I'm So Repentant'. An American in Paris with certain distain is 'Rue de Lappe'. The Vissertown hooker's madam is 'Ned's Big Dutch Wife' that evokes a delightful cafe-swing styled rhythm. The lyrics on Kelly & David's 'Daddy-O' are cryptic and clever. Sex Without Bodies finishes with the very dark 'Stormy'. If any song on Sex Without Bodies truly sums up this albums atmosphere it would have to be Lou Reed's 'Walk On The Wild Side'.
