TRACIE de JONG
The Longest Day
(Ode/Bmg)
The Longest Day is a jazzy sort of folk album. (Now I bet that has you thinking.) Tracie's voice is the huskier side of sensual, and her lyrics along with Brian's (her husband) are extremely intimate.

The Longest Day opens with the title track; that only serves as a preview for what is a truly magical album.

Stephen Bell Booth is on keyboards, and it is he that introduces some of the best songs on this album. 'That Kind Of' is a track that adequately describes the average JAFA's day.

'Summer In The City' is a sling off at those who waste their precious time on getting upset about traffic, and racing to get someplace else with little time for their friends, family, lovers, or life in general.

'Something Better' is about the frustrations of relationships, [the driving the lover away, yet trying to understand one's confusion; this is pmt versus his lack of understanding,] and let us think about it, this ain't too uncommon in our relationships.

'Dreams Of The Innocent' is about our big dreams of how we perceive ourselves and what we will be.

'Last Dance' rides on a blues groove, and is about changes around us.

'With You' is the most intimate/relationship based track on The Longest Day. Tracie talks to you about her inner most feelings for you. How would you feel about a lover telling you that they wanted to grow old with you?

I truly applaud Tracie and Brian for this most amazingly-personal album.
