JOHNNY DEVLIN
JOHNNY DEVLIN
Lawdy Miss Clawdy-The Prestige Years
(Festival) 2 CD Set
Johnny Devlin was New Zealand's answer to Elvis Presley, in fact his debut single was a song that hadn't done a lot for Elvis, and that was 'Lawdy Miss Clawdy'. The late Phil Warren recorded Johnny on his newly formed label 'Prestige Records' and the rest is history. Johnny would continue to have hit after hit with songs like 'I Got A Rocket In My Pocket', 'Queen Of The Hop', 'I Was Robbed', 'White Lightening' and 'Doreen'. Lawdy Miss Clawdy is Johnny's greatest recordings during 'The 'Prestige' Years'.

Johnny Devlin was a hitmaker with enthusiasm, shaking hips and genuine rock and roll music that have earned him the title of 'legend'. He has shared the stage with Crash Craddock, Fabian, Chuck Berry and others and continues to take his unique brand of music to audiences across the world. A 1999 European chart had this album on it's national Top 10 for the year. (notes by Glenn A Baker)

The Prestige Years - 1958-1959
Culled from Devlin's hip-shaking days in his native New Zealand this rare collection of singles finds the artist in true rock and roll pioneer mood. Great energy and Devlin's strong rock voice reaches out to the listener.
