Altruism
(BMG)
DLT's musical story began in 1982 when he became a founding member of Aotearoa's first ever Hip Hop outfit Upper Hutt Posse. Brought up on a solid diet of the conscious, intelligent and revolutionary lyrics of Bob Marley and Gill Scott-Heron as well as a growing interest in the flourishing New York Hip Hop scene, DLT went on to make history as Aotearoa's pioneering Hip Hop producer and the first ever DJ to scratch on a locally produced record.

Since leaving the Posse, DLT's initials have become a trademark for quality production. His lengthy resume includes production duties for local Hip Hop heroes Teremoana, Joint Force, Native Bass and Che Fu and remix work for Supergroove. On July 2 1996, DLT unleashed his debut solo album The True School, a showcase of his skills as a producer and DJ.

The True School went on to gain release throughout Asia, Europe, South Africa, and Australia. The album's lead single 'Chains' (featuring Che Fu) held the NZ #1 Chart position for a staggering 8 weeks and went on to achieve multi-platinum status, earning DLT the Best Single Award at the 1997 New Zealand Music Awards.

The True School was DLT's debut, Altruism is DLT's 2nd album and very true to the form of the original!
