LONNIE DONEGAN
LONNIE DONEGAN
Muleskinner Blues
(BMG)
Lonnie Donegan is undoubtably the King of Skiffle (he created the genre & reshaped pop as we know it). He was a major influence on The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals and of course Mungo Jerry. On this 1999 venture Lonnie brought on board old friends Van Morrison, Albert Lee (former Donegan band member & super session musician) , Sam Brown, Jacqui McShee (Pentangle lead singer), Jerry Allison and Chris Barber. Donegan first came to prominence being a member of Chris Barber's Jazz Band.

Tracks include new renditions of the classics 'Rock Island Line', 'I'm Alabamy Bound' & 'Muleskinner Blues', and assortment of new compositions as well.

Also worth checking out is The Skiffle Sessions-Live In Belfast an album of the music that Lonnie made legendary; among those songs included are 'Lost John', 'Goodnight Irene', et al, and The Skiffle Sessions features Van Morrison, Chris Barber and Lonnie.
