BRIDGET ELLIS Sing Me To Sea (Not sure of the label) Bridget Ellis is a Dunedin based singer/songwriter who seems to have sublimed the / between singer and songwriter, so effortless does her singing feel. The deceptively complex guitar and vocal tapestries make her songs like paintings. They don’t translate well to any other medium...I couldn’t imagine them being covered by other singers although they (the songs) are completely worthy. This album is a collection of tracks recorded over a long period of time in different settings with different musicians and assembled as a complement to a recent national tour. Consequently the mood jumps around a bit but it certainly gives a good feel for the scope of her repertoire, the impeccable poetry of her lyrics and the liquid honey of her voice.
