If Women Ruled The World
(Savoy Jazz)
If Women Ruled The World is an album full of women's compositions, some of those being jazz and others pop. Ethel had performed with many of the great jazz legends many years ago, and then she retired, now she's back.

Ethel opens with a dedication to Ray Charles i.e. Joan Osborne's 'Spider Web'. The title track is a Joan Armatrading classic. Check out her handling of the very modern 'You Gotta Be' from Des'ree. Joni Mitchell's 'For Free' is delightfully humbling. Tracy Chapman's 'Tell It Like it is' gets a wild introduction with the addition of John Abercrombie on guitar. Ethel takes the ever melancholy Carole King classic 'So Far Away' and transforms it into a warm love ballad. A few of you may recognise Bonnie Raitt's 'Nick Of Time'. Ethel's own 'Hey You' is a thought provoking dialogue.

If Women Ruled The World is both a delightful dedication to all women, and a shared appreciation of all women on Mother Earth.
