Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This & Touch
(RCA/BMG)
In 1983 the Eurythmics turned peoples ears around thanks to the clever musicianship of Dave Stewart, and of course the sexy Scottish vocals of Annie Lennox; just at a time when the World was on the verge of alienating (new wave) synth-pop.

Apart from the massive hit title track 'Sweet Dreams Are Made Of This', I flipped for the songs 'I've Got An Angel', 'Wrap It Up', 'The Walk', and 'The City Never Sleeps'. The latter was used in the movie Nine & and a Half Weeks, that featured Kim Bassinger masturbating herself to this song and art slides.

Touch was really just a continuation on the very same theme as Sweet Dreams. My favourite tracks from their third album Touch are 'Cool Blue', 'Aqua' and 'No Fear, No Hate, No Pain (No Broken Hearts)'. From the same album came the hits 'Right By Your Side', 'Who's That Girl' and 'Paint A Rumour'.

Like John Lennon/ Paul McCartney, and Elton John/Bernie Taupin, Annie Lennox/Dave Stewart were a song writting match made in heaven. Their debut In The Garden really was just the afterbirth of The Tourists, who shared similarities to Blondie and Duran Duran.
