TOMMY FLANAGAN
TOMMY FLANAGAN
Sea Changes
(Alfa Jazz)
Tommy was privileged enough to be one of Ella Fitzgeralds closest friends, and also her piano player for many years. On Sea Changes Tommy has put together a dynamic trio in the form of bass player Peter Washington, and drummer Lewis Nash. Washington & Nash are among the elite of the most in demand musicians on the New York jazz scene today. Sea Changes includes five Flanagan originals and six classics. From Flanagan's 'Delarna' to Heyman's 'I Cover The Waterfront' (made famous by Billie Holiday), and Charlie Parker's 'Relaxin' At Camarillo'; Sea Changes offers a great variance of styles. Tommy possessed such a talent for feeling and depth, coupled with exceptional timing, that you were left moved, and longing for more.
