FUZZTONES
In Heat
(Situation Two)
The Fuzztones are Rudi Protrudi(vocals, Vox & Gretsch guitars, blues harp), Jordan Tarlow(Rickenbacker guitar, vocals), Mad' Mike Czekaj(drums, vocals), Jason Savall(Vox & Farfisa organ, piano, vocals) and John Carlucci(4 & 8 string Rickenbacker bass). In Heat opens with the title track that could very well have been performed by Steppenwolf, and the same applies to 'Nine Months Later', and this has the lyrical theme of Crow's Evil Woman' with musical shadings of the Electric Prunes i.e. fuzz guitars and haunting keyboards. Re-enter the Steppenwolf theme again with 'Cheyenne Rider', it even has Billy Idol riding the Harley during the intro. The blues gets a visit with 'Everything You Got'. 'Black Box' has some great tempo changes, from the deep slow, progressing to the frantic heaviness. 'It Came In The Mail' has an Alan Freed intro, and again shows Electric Prune influences. 'Me Tarzan, You Jane' could have been recorded by The New York Dolls. Protrudi sounds like a self-professed serial killer on 'Charlotte's Remains' (a little sick, but an excellent track just the same).
