THE GUESS WHO Live At The Paramount: [Remastered] (BMG) Finally the complete 75 minute 'Guess Who' concert Live At The Paramount has been made available. This just wasn't possible to fit onto a single LP, hence when the compact disc originally came out it only contained two thirds of this amazing concert. The added tracks to this remastered edition are 'These Eyes', 'No Time', 'Sour Suite', 'Hand Me Down World', 'Share The Land' and 'No Time'. This is a stand alone 'Greatest Hits' and features the twin guitar attack of Kurt Winter and Don McDougall. These two lads really bring to life 'Rain Dance', 'No Time' and of course 'American Woman'/'Truckin' Off Across The Sky'. 'American Woman' is deemed non-pc these days, but the song itself was more about social issues, rather than a woman. Canadians were totally opposed to the Vietnam war, and didn't fancy the over-glossed American life-style, and this is brought more into focus with the anti-hard-drug anthem 'Truckin' Off Across The Sky'. This would explain why the Guess Who's would-be concert at Carnegie Hall was cancelled by the authorities, and hence was held in Seattle, Washington instead. Don McDougall's charismatic, solo/acoutic performance of 'Glace Bay Blues' calmly mesmerizes the entire audience and gets a standing ovation at the end of this song. Acoustic blues, simple and at it's best. I've always wanted to hear a live version of 'These Eyes', and Burton adds so much more passion to this live rendition. Overall Live At The Paramount is a disc I wouldn't be without. Following is a list of the songs plus their duration.
