ZAKIYA HOOKER Flavors Of The Blues (Pointblank) Zakiya is the daughter of blues legend John Lee Hooker. Flavors Of The Blues has its share of styles as the title suggests. You can feel soul, and almost gospel reaching through Zakiya's singing. Robert Johnson's 'Stones In The Passway' opens Flavors Of The Blues, followed by mostly originals. Special guests include the legendary harmonica player Charlie Musselwhite, and of course Daddy on 'Bit By Love (Hard Times)'. Flavors Of The Blues is very much a jazz-blues album in the vocal tradition of Etta James, Aretha Franklin & Dinah Washington; and Flavors Of The Blues is also great late night album; just add bourbon and a friendly partner.
