HOWLIN' WOLF
HOWLIN' WOLF
London Sessions
(Chess/BMG)
Howlin' Wolf's London Sessions is an absolute super jam featuring Eric Clapton, Bill Wyman & Charlie Watts from the Rolling Stones; with Ringo Starr (Beatles), Lafayette Leake, Steve Winwood (Blind Faith, Traffic) and many others, and also among the many musicians was the Wolf's good friend and regular guitarist Hubert Sumlin. These are electrified versions of the Wolf's greatest songs; Some of the titles were written by blues legend Willie Dixon. London Sessions includes the legendary classics "Rockin' Daddy', 'I Ain't Superstitious', 'Sitting On Top Of The World', 'Built For Comfort', 'Who's Been Talking', 'Little Red Rooster' & 'Wang Dang Doodle'. These songs have inspired countless cover versions, and Howlin' Wolf (real name: Chester Arthur Burnett) along with Willie Dixon have influenced so many great rock bands i.e. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac, The Rolling Stones, to The Doors that have all paid homage to these great song writers. If you're not quite into folk blues (yet), and like it with a bit of rock, then this is a great place to start.
