JAZZ A SAINT GERMAIN Various Artists (Virgin) Jazz A Saint Germain is a fashionable tribute to the French Jazz Club scene of the `40's & `50's. Angelique Kidjo performs Gershwin's timeless classic 'Summertime'; and this would have to be one of the most heartfelt versions I've ever heard. China's rendition of 'Lover Man' and Patricia Kaas' singing 'Black Coffee' are both warm and sensual. Dee Dee Bridgewater stylishly sings 'Watermelon Man' that is pure, smooth funk. Language is no barrier as Les Nubians perform Monk's 'Round Midnight' (Autour De Minuit).
