JACQUES LOUSSIER TRIO
JACQUES LOUSSIER TRIO
Bolero
(Telarc)
Anyone even slightly familiar with Jacques previous albums will know Jacques and his trio are among the Worlds finest interpreters of classical music in the jazz form. Jacques earlier albums were on Polydor, then more recently he moved to the Telarc label; where Jacques has released a reworking of the award winning Blues On Bach, and also an interpretation of the World's biggest selling classical work; Vivladi's Four Seasons, and the delightfully reflective Satie: Gymnopodies, Gnossiennes. Jacques plays a blend of classical, jazz and blues that puts him on a par with Claude Bolling, Dave Brubeck and John Lewis.

Jacques 17-minute rendition of Ravel's 'Bolero' is coupled with his own 'Nympheas', that is approximately 34-minutes long, and in seven parts. Even if you are not a fan of Ravel, then consider this other work, as it is brilliant, and rewards you with better insight on repeated aural exposure.

There is something truly beautiful in Jacques' piano tones, and his timing is nothing less than genius.

Bach's Goldberg Variations
(Telarc)
Jacques is possibly one of the most famous of the classical-jazz improvisers along with fellow Frenchman-pianist Claude Bolling. Bach's: Goldberg Variations are short piano works, that are strongly reminiscent of Jacques' Best Of Bach (Polydor) series. This is classical music with air (pardon the pun) breathed into it!
